Meet Attorney Shawn Paschall

Over 20 Years Experience in Criminal Law

Attorney Shawn W. Paschall is board certified in criminal law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, a distinction held by fewer than 8% of attorneys in Texas. To earn it, an attorney needs substantial trial experience, a full day of grueling exams, and vetting by the peers and judges who’ve actually watched them work a courtroom.

Shawn has held this certification since 2011 and completes annual training beyond what’s required of other attorneys just to keep it. Backing that credential up is a track record that speaks for itself: over 100 jury trials with favorable results.

Experience

Before defending clients, Shawn spent 9 years as a felony prosecutor in Tom Green and Tarrant counties. That’s not a small detail — it means he learned the system from the inside: how cases get built, what prosecutors actually look for, and where the weak points are.

Three of those years were spent in the Crimes Against Children Unit, handling some of the most difficult cases a prosecutor can be assigned: continuous sexual abuse of a child, aggravated sexual assault of a child, sexual assault of a child, and indecency with a child. As a prosecutor, Shawn trained other prosecutors, police officers, and child abuse investigators on how to approach these cases correctly. Today, he applies that same insider knowledge on the defense side, taking on a limited number of these cases where he’s uniquely positioned to help.

Accomplishments

Shawn has served on the Board of Directors for the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association (TCDLA), representing criminal defense attorneys across the state. TCDLA shapes legislation, trains attorneys, and pushes back when judges or prosecutors overreach.

He’s also one of a small number of attorneys approved to handle capital murder defense cases in Tarrant County — a distinction that requires specific experience and training most attorneys never obtain.
